Today, what a treat it would be to use your 'spare
change' to play this fabulous coin-operated 'Parlorphon'! Although
little is known about this rare phonograph, here is what information
we have to offer. The Parlorphone coin-op plays after dropping a coin
into the slot. Than the arm will lower down and the turntable will
start. At the end of the record the turntable will stop and the arm
will go back into first position. Notice the locking drawer on the
phonograph base used to store and retrieve the coins.

We believe this Parlorphone was sold in Denmark and made in Germany manufactured by Carl Lindstrom of Berlin. Mr. Lindstrom trademarked the name in 1904. These machines were made between (1911-1912). The case measurers 50 x 40 x 30 cm (20 x 15.5 x 11.6 inch). The tin horn has a diameter of 22 inch and is 24 inch long. Note the 'musical' embossed tin(?), decorating the front panel! The decorative taper arm bracket adds to the beauty.

As the readings from the book: "Phonographs and Gramophones" by Marco Contini states: 'Parlorphone, A large German machine. The sizeable disc-plate, 35 cm. in diameter, and the hand-carved case set with jewels make it a true Rolls-Royce amongst gramophones.'
