Dorsey brothers, alto sax and clarinettist Jimmy took over the band the
pair had jointly fronted when, in May 1935, Tommy quit. In the fifteen
years that followed, Jimmy Dorsey & His Orchestra notched up exactly
one hundred American chart hits, many featuring the vocal refrains of Bob
Eberly, Helen O’Connell or Kitty Kallen. Having Bob duet with either of
the girls frequently meant a million-selling disc. |
