| Jack Teagarden (1905-1964) may
or may not have been jazz's first great trombone player (you could make
a case for Miff Mole or Jimmy Harrison). But he is nevertheless among the most popular and beloved figures in the history of jazz. Partly this is due to his nearly lifelong association with Louis Armstrong--Teagarden met Armstrong in 1921 and toured with his All-Stars in the late 1940s and early 1950s. |
